Independant Private Days and Itinerary Designer, Escort in Tokyo and Japan
In-person or Remote Guiding and Support
Picture
I design and personally accompany—on site or remotely—private day experiences and journeys in Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan. My services are intended for adult and senior travelers who seek not the accumulation of experiences, but the accuracy of places, rhythms, and encounters: gastronomy, territories, cities and provinces, and the ordinary yet demanding—or truly exceptional—forms of Japanese well-being.

My services

  1. Design and accompaniment of carefully crafted day experiences in Tokyo, from a single day onward: long, dense days rooted in a high-quality everyday life, with gastronomy, urban aesthetics, and encounters at their core, drawing on over forty years of lived experience in the capital.
  2. Design of your itinerary and accompaniment over several days or for an entire stay.
  3. Design of your itinerary without accompaniment.
  4. Writing of a private, personalized guide, covering your journey in original, experience-based details, to help intensify immersion in Japan’s everyday reality while reducing exposure to overtourism and its artifices.
  5. Design of days, experiences, and programs around highly specialized themes: cultural and aesthetic traditions; the grammars of the singular urban environments of Japan’s major cities; gastronomic and agricultural products and their associated culinary traditions; experiences of rural life; and encounters with local actors of everyday well-being.
  6. Design of well-considered days and journeys adapted to the very specific context of intense summer heat.

Many travelers today wish to navigate overtourism and standardized experiences intelligently, without always knowing how to recognize or avoid them. This is precisely where my role lies: to discern, arbitrate, and negotiate coherent choices within an environment saturated with images, narratives, and contradictory recommendations.

My approach is grounded in more than forty years of life in Tokyo and continuous familiarity with local practices, places, and temporal rhythms. I aim to enable both an understanding and a felt experience of what, in Japan, constitutes a life of quality anchored in reality, rather than a Japan reconstructed for the external gaze.

I often work with clients overwhelmed by the media noise surrounding Japan, or too absorbed in their professional lives to sift through an abundance of information that is rich but poorly discriminating, where artificial attractions, passing trends, and decontextualized references are often conflated.

I help modulate the inevitable tourist dimension, approach certain iconic destinations with discernment when their value justifies it, and above all gain access to a demanding, discreet, and living Japanese everyday life—aligned with your expectations, your sensibility, and your way of traveling.

Tokyo and nearby Territories

I offer carefully designed private day planning in and around Tokyo based on living in the capital city for the past 40 years, focusing on authentic and lesser-known neighborhoods, with food, gastronomy and the sense of places as key axis of discoveries. These tailor-made itineraries encompass cultural, gastronomic, urbanistic and immersive cruising experiences of the city, allowing you to encounter Tokyo's many tastes and vistas of quality daily life as a knowledgeable local would do. Discover the city's distinct ambiances, the districts’ genius locci, the cuisine and hidden gems from the humble delicious treats to the utterly exquisite luxury. Engage with locals beyond consumption interactions.

 Feel a part of it.

These personalized journeys cater to mature senior visitors - up to four travelers but three is better * - who appreciate the nuances of urban living, seek a more genuine experience - less touristy - and enjoy going off the beaten tracks to engage and learn from slices of high-quality real daily life. Whether it's your first or second visit to Tokyo, I aim to help you navigate overtourism and generic must-see lists, allowing you to better connect with the city's enduring essence and encounter real people along the way.

You can choose between in-person guidance or remote assistance based on your preferences, destinations, and desired content.

*Small group tour programming and escort available guaranteed by a partner travel agent in Japan.

Food is the gateway to these multiple dimensions that are distinctively Japanese and will leave you with a lasting impression : craftsmanship, simplicity, exquisite platting, extensions to objects, utensils, tableware, decorative and service items, interior design and moods that are distinctly local, materials and colors, adjoining gardens and buildings, fabrics, clothing, the rhythm and beat of the streets, the calm of outlying and provincial areas. All my offers are primarily centered around these dimensions with quality daily life and food at the core.

Starting from a single day in Tokyo or farther. Designed in intelligence with you through dialogue.

・・・

*Guiding comes in flexible formats, for the whole day or sojourn, or for those key moments when escort is needed or helpful, or even remote via mobile with concierge service and a detailed unique roadmap peppered with insider knowledge to fully enjoy every moment on your own.

Yuzus and The Universe of Japanese Citrus
For amateurs and professionals since 2014

・・・

With more than 90 varieties with some almost year round, Japan is that citrus destination you may not be aware of. Citrus orchards shape many territories mostly under the radar, but located in stunning perspective and landscapes that usher you into the rurality of Japan, with plenty of food and secluded cultural experiences inside. Step aside the common trails and put some citrus in your itineraries, starting from Tokyo to way down Okinawa.

Citrus is big in Japan. Discover during your sojourn regional territories that are keys to this essential side of local agriculture, and seldom visited destinations for food galore and the meeting of producers and stakeholders that sustain another quality of genuine life.
  • Yuzu discovery in or near Tokyo from end of October to mid-december.
  • Yuzus in the regional territories of production. A deep dive into rural Japan. From end of October to mid-december with a minimum of three nights on location.
  • The universe of Japanese oranges from February to early April.
  • Fruit and citrus tours in central Tokyo.
  • Private tasting and presentation parties in Tokyo and at regional destinations.
  • Professional tours and services through the whole year.

Certified Citrus Sommelier of Japan
The Citrus Sommelier certification was introduced in Japan in 2020. It is currently the single citrus sommelier certification system in the world. A citrus sommelier is someone deeply invested in the knowledge and the dissemination of that knowledge to the greater public.

I am the first non-Japanese holder of the Citrus Sommelier certificate.

Besides professional trips around citrus in Japan, I organise private tasting sessions everywhere in Japan, including remote tasting experiences with the best seasonal fruits sourced from selected producers.
